Content Providers vs Internet Service Providers

Content Providers supply information such as news, entertainment, and graphic design.  Facebook, an example of content, has users who provide most of the content and interact with each other.  Content can range from National Weather Service to lunch menus at a school.  These create raw information that others shape into information services.

Internet Service Providers connect users to the Internet and provide e-mail accounts.  An example is EarthLink.  EarthLink provides access but little content and portal pages welcome users with hourly news.  Internet Service Providers lease high-speed connections from telecommunication carriers and local phone companies.  Over 300 Internet Service Providers in the United States with national coverage.
